Cause

When you want to create an incremental backup of the Exchange database the circulair logging option needs to be disabled.

Solution

You have to disable the circular logging on the MS Exchange-server.
Check the [Enable circular logging] option:

Afterwards the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service has to be restarted.

Start a full backup of the Exchange database instead of a transaction log backup after having disabled circular logging to make sure everything is back-upped properly.
Another option is the only create a daily backup of the database (incremental) instead of a log-backup. This will help prevent errors and is about the same size due to the In-File delta technology.
