VSS_E_WRITERERROR_RETRYABLE

Cause

The 6.11.0.0 or higher softeware in combinatie with Exchange 2010 or higher completely uses VSS to create the backup instead of using an export to a temp folder.
This error message can occur due to an error in the 6.15.0.0 or older software.

Solution

1. Make sure Exchange 2010 is at least updated to: SP3 Update Rollup 4
2. Install at least the 6.17.0.0 software
3. If the error still occurs after the upgrades: check if Circular Logging is enabled. If this is the case, disable circulair logging and restart the backup.
4. When the error is still there a manual restart of the machine is required.
