Fehler Meldung

The backup storage location is invalid. You cannot use a volume that is included in the backup as a storage location.

Ursache

The temporary target of the backup cannot be a part of the backup itself and has to be on the root of a drive.
e.g. D:\

Lösung

A disk is marked as critical when for example Windows or Exchange is installed, check the backup log to see which volumes are included in the backup.
Critical volumes are automatically included in the backup.

1. Open the software
2. Go to the backupset settings (cog)
3. Select the System (State) set
4. Go to the tab Options
5. Change the temporarily directory to a volume that is not mentioned in the log, or connect a usb-disk with enough free space to the machine and select that.
6. Save the settings

With Windows 2008 R2 and higher it is possible to use a network location using a UNC path (\\server\share).
