How big does a temporary folder get

OS

n/a

Software

All

Explanation

De software requests a copy of the data being backupped and will put this in a temporary folder specified in the backupset (default: c:\users\[username\.temp).
At the initial backup this folder will be no bigger than the largest file in the backup but in the following backups this will increase.

This is because the software uses In-File Delta technology to look for changes in the files before sending the data to our server minimizing the backup amount.
There are 2 types of delta backups: incremental and differential but for both the software will look for changes to either 50% change since the last backup or when 100 backups have been made.

Example:
For a 50GB Exchange database the software will create the 50GB export in the temporary folder. If there are 23GB of changes in the next backup the software will filter out those 23GB and put them in the same folder before compressing en encrypting the data
In sum: the temporary folder will reach a maximum of 1,5x the size of the largest file in the backup.
