How do I install the qpkg app on a QNAP NAS

64bit Dual Core architecture or above
Due to the processing power required for compression, encryption, and delta generation. It is recommended the QNAP NAS should be installed with dual core processors with sufficient memory. Intel processor is recommended over other processors.

Memory (RAM)
Minimum: 1 GB
Recommended: 2 GB or more

Instructions

Download the installation file

  1. Go to the backup server where the account has been created. (e.g. backup09.mindtime.nl)
  2. Click the download icon (Download icon) on the top right
  3. Download the Mindtime Pro Backup QNAP installation (.qpkg file)

Install the software on the NAS
After you've downloaded the qpkg file we can continue with the installation on the NAS

  1. Go to the App Center
  2. Open the App Center settings and adjust the Trust level (Older QTS versions don't have this option)
    1. Allow installation of non-QNAP Store apps (after the installation this setting can be restored)
  3. Select "Manual Install" (With older QTS versions this can be found under the settings cog)
    1. Select the recently downloaded qpkg file
  4. In case you've offered the option for Demo or login please choose "Login"
  5. At the login screen select"Show advanced options" to provide the accounts server address
    1. HTTPS: server address (e.g. HTTPS backup09.mindtime.nl)
    2. Click OK
  6. Provide your backup account credentials to login
  7. The software is now installed and you can configure the backupsets
    1. Check the settings to make sure the "Scheduler" is enabled (this must be enabled)
It is wise to change the location of the temporary folder to a location on the physical disks.
(Know issue at the moment) The compression is set to "No compression"
1. Close the software
2. Go to the backup server
3. Change the compression in the backupset before the first backup will start (it can take a moment for the software to see the change)
